Making a horsehoe loop among some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in all the Swiss Alps, the Tour of the Jungfrau Region, first devised and documented by Kev Reynolds in the first edition of this guide in 2006, is already becoming one of the classic walks of Europe. In a journey of 9 to 10 days the route visits pastures, ridges, summits and passes. It skirts exquisite mountain lakes and gazes on waterfalls, gorges and glaciers – all in the shadow of such iconic peaks as the Wetterhorn, Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

Accommodation is both plentiful and atmospheric, and the route has lots of bad-weather alternatives, with extra alternative stages and diversions also added by the author for this edition. Despite the nearby presence of popular resorts like Grindelwald, Wengen, Lauterbrunnen and Mürren, the Tour of the Jungfrau Region explores some surprisingly remote landscapes, including part of a World Natural Heritage site.
